Hey, Guys! It’ s been a while since my last post, but I did update the previous post due to a ‘broken video’  from dailymotion; but luckly I was able to find a link for it on vimeo! Either way, I am glad to be back doing what I enjoy the most: blogging! Right on time though, the year is ending pretty soon, and you know what that means? My annual Top Music/Albums:  2010 edition stay tuned for that; I will be on break next friday!! I will have more time to focus on that and other stuff too! I have collected and found new music to share with you all!

Speaking of that, I did stumble upon an ‘up and coming’ artist from the Bay area that I really want to share with you guys. From the looks of it, I really am digging his music and genre style. I love searching for new music and hidden talents that are not known to the public (the journalist in me). So, his name is VITAL … okay, his ‘real’ name is Duranta D. Cook (born December 31 1980 in Vallejo, California, USA), an indie singer-songwriter that goes by his artist name Vital. Well below you will find two videos of the same song, along with a link to his Web site so you can make your judgement yay or nay!? Ok, kiddos! gotta go and do some laundry and cleaning up … peace!

I currently I’m listening to this band from “El Pais Vasco” = The Basque called, Zenttric! I can’t stop listening to this song. Even though the song came out in 2009, it still is good. It’s catchy and lively and the band has mad skills! Enjoy!

The Books have a terrific sense of humor, which makes “The Way Out”, an album built on eccentric vocal clips,  a “good-natured discovery” instead of a cheap piece of mockery. Envision, clips of “goofball-hypnotherapist”, “mediation consultants”, and a clip of a boy and a girl swapping violent threats with teach other; you’ll probably chuckle and move on, right!? But when The Books use these samples, they give them integrity, genuineness. You find yourself engrossed with people who are unfamiliar with this music genre. “The flotsam and jetsam of American culture aren’t a cheap joke to The Books, but a source of endless discovery and joy!

“The Way Out” is the fourth LP– and the first in half a decade– by the collage art/folktronica/post-New Age/indescribable duo of guitarist/singer Nick Zammuto and cellist Paul de Jong. Their new album is experimental for sure, but just like their early works, it wasn’t designed for slow chin-scratching. It works best when it works like a joke: A strange sound or sample clicks in your ears, and then you’re on to the next one.

Today’s song of the day is “Fresh Blood” by the Eels! I really like this song right now. Mark Oliver Everett — aka “E” — frontman and sole proprietor of indie-rock’s Eels released, ‘Hombre Lobo,‘ the first Eels’ album in four years, on June 2, 2009. It was only fitting that their first single was called ‘Fresh Blood.’ After all, “hombre lobo” translates to “werewolf.”

In 1996 Thievery Corporation released Sounds from the Thievery Hi-Fi; an album that defined an entire genre of music and crystallized their distinct “outernational sound” aesthetic. Over the next 14 years the duo would write and record four more critically acclaimed studio albums (The Mirror Conspiracy, The Richest Man in Babylon, The Cosmic Game, and Radio Retaliation), three remix albums (Abductions and Reconstructions, Babylon Rewound, and Versions), and various DJ mixes and film soundtracks (The Outernational Sound, and the recent Babylon Central Film Soundtrack).

Now Rob Garza and Eric Hilton have selected their favorite Thievery Corporation tracks and are set to present It Takes a Thief; their first retrospective album chronicling over a decade of revolutionary outernational sounds.  With a rotating cast of instrumentalists and vocalists It Takes a Thief unfolds in a kaleidoscope of sonic color. The album showcases classic Thievery Corporation tracks like “Warning Shots” featuring incendiary reggae toaster Sleepy Wonder, “Vampires” featuring Afrobeat heir Femi Kuti, “Shadows of Ourselves” featuring multi-lingual Persian singer Lou Lou, and of course the hit track “Lebanese Blonde” featuring the late jazz chanteuse Pam Bricker.  It Takes a Thief also features an exclusive, never before released track “The Passing Stars” featuring Pam Bricker.

From the beginning, it’s been remarkable to witness the growth of Thievery Corporation’s fan base as it’s steadily grown in such a DIY, organic fashion since the duo’s first LP. “We were so inspired by Washington, DC’s Dischord and the true do-it-yourself ethos of the DC punk scene that Rob and I both grew up on. A lot of great music reaches fans without the typical hype and fanfare enjoyed by bands on the majors. Music eventually finds its audience through a myriad of alternative routes. And when that connection is made, that bond is strong,” says Hilton.

Certainly that bond is so remarkably strong, that Thievery Corporation has been able to sell out the famed Hollywood Bowl, London’s Shepard’s Bush Empire, the Theatro Vrahon Melina Merkouri in Athens, Greece, and countless other legendary venues around the globe. Spreading their unique sound far and wide, Garza and Hilton were always great admirers and curators of dusty grooves and all but forgotten music styles. They borrow from the classically sensual and blunted sounds of their favorite Brazilian bossa nova, Jamaican dub reggae, vintage film soundtracks, Afrobeat, Latin and psychedelic rock to forge into new sonic territory.

“As we are in the midst of recording our sixth studio album this year, it just seemed like the time was right to release this collection. It’s been a great journey – musically and personally – and we just wanted to have that one definitive document. It Takes a Thief is it, ” explains Garza. “We feel like it’s a great look back for some; and, for others, an excellent introduction to our sound.”

It Takes a Thief will be released September 21, 2010 on ESL Music.

There’s no mistaking Kele Okereke’s Boxer for a Bloc Party album. The frontman may bring his unmistakable voice and Essex accent to the project, but those are merely hints of his band’s influence. After five consecutive years of touring, Bloc Party decided it was time for a break, yet Okereke couldn’t sit still.

During his planned sabbatical, he booked himself a recording studio with an engineer. His guitar sat untouched while Okereke tinkered with synthesizers and drum machines — a process which eventually led to a full solo album, produced by XXXchange of Spankrock.

“Rise” begins gently, light on the beats, before revealing its true colors. With each verse, XXXchange tosses in more electronic elements as the track escalates into electro-rock cacophony. Okereke’s vocals aren’t lost in the mayhem, though. He keeps up with the pace of the instrumentation, slowly relinquishing control of his voice in the flurry of sound. To an extent, Okereke was able to pursue his interest in electronic music with Bloc Party, but as a solo artist, he and XXXchange have crafted a fearless dance record.
